Mutation details: An 8.3 kb fragment of the Nphs1 promoter was used to drive podocyte specific cre/EGFP expression in the construct. Three founders were obtained. EGFP immunohistochemistry showed protein expression was restricted to podocytes and was absent from other tissues. When founders were crossed to ROSA26 reporter mice, staining was observed extensively in the glomeruli in all mice (with weak staining observed in the brain, but not in other tissues). A representative line 1 was entered. Mice were backcrossed 10 generations onto FVB/N.
