Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Recombinase)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(INS-icre)18Msdr expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsA 1055 bp fragment encoding codon-improved cre recombinase was inserted into a vector containing a 1500 bp fragment of the 5' UTR of the porcine insulin promoter (PIP) of the insulin gene (INS). The purified construct was injected into C57BL/6 fertilized oocytes. 43 founders were obtained and two transmitted the transgene to their progeny. These founders were crossed to ROSA26lacZ reporter mice. Founder line 20 did not show any beta-galactosidase activity and was not analyzed further; line 18 displayed staining in essentially all islets, but not in the exocrine compartment and was more fully characterized.
