Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

267 (124 males and 143 females) F2 mice from a (SM/J x NZB/BlNJ) F1 cross were informative in mapping Bone Density (BMDs) QTLs to mouse Chromosomes 9 ,12 and 15. Whole body and vertebral BMDs were analyzed. Whole body and vertebral Bmds were higher in NZB/BlNJ then those of SM/J and F1s. Bmd40 mapped to mouse Chr 9 (LOD 12.2 -whole body and 13.7 vertebral ) near D9Mit196 and Bmd41 (LOD 6.5-whole body LOD 5.9 - vertebral) near D12Mit60 (whole body) and D12Mit6 (vertebral) at 14 - 58 cM . Chromosome 15 QTL (LOD 2.3- Vertebral) mapped with D15Mit26. It is important to note here that Bmd40, Bmd41 and Bmd42 overlap previously identified QTL Bmd10, Bmd12 and Bmd4 respectively.
