Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:151286

528 (269 female and 259 male) F2 mice from a (C57BL/6J x 129S1/SvImJ) were used to map obesity QTLs to various mouse Chromosomes. Body mass was measured at 8 wks for chow fed( protein and Fat) mice and 16 wks for mice fed an atherogenic diet (Glucose andFat).

The authors reported 11 significant and three suggestive QTLs wherein %fat mapped to mouse Chrs 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 16 in the genome scan. QTL on proximal Chrs 9 and 16 were reduced on the atherogenic diet while QTL on Chrs 5, 6, 11 and 12 were specific to the atherogenic diet.

The following reports the marker and peak mapped location with the nearest marker in parenthesis:

Chr1 (peak Mb=22), Obq23 (rs3711079);

Chr1 (peak Mb=68), Obq24 (rs3697638);

Chr1 (peak Mb=173),Obq25 (rs31507136);

Chr4 (peak Mb=74), Obq26 (rs13477785);

Chr5 (peak Mb=73), Obq27 (rs6409508);

Chr6 (peak Mb=76), Obq28 (rs3710429);

Chr7 (peak Mb=88), Obq29 (rs3658777);

Chr8 (peak Mb=43), Obq30 (rs13479731);

Chr8 (peak Mb=80), Obq31 (rs13479840);

Chr9 (peak Mb=30), Obq5 (rs13480120);

Chr9 (peak Mb=55), Obq32 (rs6206488);

Chr11 (peak Mb=115),Obq33 (rs13481245);

Chr12 (peak Mb=32), Obq34 (rs13481380);

Chr16 (peak Mb=26), Obq35 (rs4165503).

11.20.2014 Curator's Note: Because QTL Obq5 was originally mapped using crosses between KK/H1Lt and C57BL/6J mice in J:57787 we consider the current study a separate mapping experiment and have named this QTL Obq37.
