Notes

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:96204

Linkage analysis was performed on 402 animals from a B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund x RIIIS/J)F1 x B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund backcross to identify QTLs associated with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) traits. Parental strain B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund is susceptible to developing EAE upon immunization with myelin basic protein (MBP) 89-101 peptide whereas parental strain RIIIS/J is resistant. 150 microsatellite markers were used for the genome scan.

A region on mouse Chromosome 11 between 33 cM and 44 cM shows linkage to EAE incidence, development of chronic disease, day of onset, and area under the curve (AUC). This locus is flanked by D11Mit208 and D11Nds1. Previously identified QTLs that overlap with this region are Eae44b (24 cM), Eae7 (48 cM), and Eae23 (38 cM). Homozygosity for B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund-derived alleles confer increased susceptibility to EAE traits at this locus.

6.30.2015 Curator Note: Because Eae44b, Eae7 and Eae23 were all originally mapped using SJL/J and B10.S/DvTe crosses, strains that differ from those in the cross used here, we consider the current study a separate mapping experiment and have named this QTL Eae45.
