Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:63266Mom1 (renamed to Pla2g2a) is a complex locus on mouse chromosome 4 composed of 2 or more genes modifying intestinal tumor resistance. Animals homozygous for AKR/J alleles at the Mom1 locus are more resistant to intestinal tumors than C57BL/6J animals. When Mom1 is subdivided by recombination events across the 15 cM locus by backcrossing (AKR/J x C57BL/6J)F1 females to C57BL/6J-ApcMin males, animals carrying AKR/J alleles distal to D4Mit64 maintain partial resistance to intestinal tumor formation as do animals carrying AKR/J alleles proximal to D4Mit64. Therefore, the locus is comprised of more than one intestinal tumor resistance modifier gene. The first locus, Mom1 is proximal to D6Mit64. A second locus renamed Mom6 is located between D4Mit64 and the telomere. Candidate genes in the region of Mom6 include Hspg2, Pla2g2f, and Pla2g2d. Pla2g2c and Pla2g5 were ruled out as candidate genes via segregations analysis. |
