Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:153926

191 young male and 185 young female mice were tested with 187 aged male and 185 aged female mice derived from a (C57BL/6J X DBA/2J)F1 cross. Activity differences, wherein C57BL/6J mice are more active then DBA/2J mice, allowed for the QTL mapping of a variety of phenotypic traits potentially related to activity. These traits included muscle mass, skeletal traits and overall activity. The phenotypic measures are depicted in table 1 of the reference. Hind limb rears, tibial yield load and tibial ultimate load map with chromosome 4 marker D4Mit255 (QTL named Msam1 by MGI) with LODs varying from greater than 3.2 to greater than 6.4 but less than 8.0.. Muscle and skeletal measures of the femur mapped near D7Mit69 (QTL named Msam2 by MGI) also with LODs varyingfrom greater than 3.2 to greater than 6.4 but less than 8.0. Unadjusted muscle and skeletal measures for females mapped to chromosome 9 (QTL named Msam3 by MGI) between D9Mit196 and D9Mit212 with LODs Between t 3.2 and 6.0.
