Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:153405Forty-Three BXD RI strains were use to map QTL for tongue length, fungiform papillae number and total papillae area in mice. A total of 118 mice were analyzed. C57BL/6J mice had a longer tongue then did DBA/2J. C57BL/6J mice contain more fungiform papillae then DBA/2J by 15-20%. Significant QTL for tongue length occurred in chromosomes 5 (Tons1) and 7 (tons2) with suggestive QTL in chromosomes 11 and 17. The Chromsome 5 QTL was associated (LRS 20.608) with 4 SNPs, rs4225252, rs3719870, rs3711269 and rs13478309 spanning between 66 and 68 Mbs. The chromosome 7 QTL for tongue length included many significant SNPs between 114.5 Mbs and 126 Mbp the most significant LRS of 35.135 occurred at SNP rs13479477. A significant QTL (Tpapa1) for total papillae area was observed on Chromosome 19 with a LRS of 18.3 at 55 Mbp and a suggestive QTL was observed in chromosome 10. A suggestive QTL for fungiform papillae number occurred in mouse Chromosome 2 . |
