Mutation details: LoxP sites were inserted to flank exon six, then exon 6 was deleted via Cre-mediated recombination. An FRT-flanked neomycin selection cassette was also inserted next to the loxP site in intron 5 and is retained in the final allele. The encoded protein was undetectable in homozygous animals by immunoblot of whole testis extracts, western blot of extracts of ear fibroblasts, or immunostaining of testis sections or spermatocyte squashes.
