Mutation details: Mice carrying the Ccdc155tm1a(KOMP)Wtsi conditional allele were crossed with C57/B6 animals harboring a Tg(Zp3-cre)93Knw transgene to delete exons 5-8, resulting in a frame shift and the appearance of a stop codon 36 bp downstream of the 3' end of exon 4. Mice carrying this recombined allele were bred to remove Cre and were maintained as heterozygotes. Quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot analyses of whole testis lysates confirmed the complete absence of both mRNA and protein from homozygous mutant males. Testis samples from heterozygous males showed an intermediate (~50%) level of mRNA and protein.
