Mutation details: The 52 bp exon complementary sequence (ECS) in intron 5 was deleted. The GU1 splice donor site cgGtatgta was also mutated to cgCtatgta. These mutations inhibit the formation of a double-stranded RNA structure and the action of the ADAR enzyme (Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA).
