In an attempt to determin if the Col4a1 mutant phenotypes could be genetically modified the authors crossed mice that were congenic for Col4a1 on a C57BL/6J genetic background to mice of inbred strains (129/SvEvTac and CAST/EiJ). The F1 mice derived fromthis cross were analysed. A single dominate locus between D1Mit211 and D1Mit303 was shown in CAST/EiJ mice.
