Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:184268

To map genes related to vesico-ureteric reflux (VUR) susceptibility in mice, a genomewide scan was performed on a randomly chosen subset of C3H/HeJ N2 progeny ([(C3H/HeJ x C57BL/6J) F1 x C3H/HeJ] backcross), consisting of 127 VUR-affected mice and 45 VUR-unaffected mice using 268 informative SNP markers and five microsatellite markers (D12Mit37, D12Mit215, D12Mit240, D12Mit170, and D12Mit105). Linkage analysis was performed by scoring VUR as a binary trait. All genome coordinates were relative to mouse genome build 37.1 (mm9).

QTL Vurm1 (Vesico-ureteric reflux 1) maps to Chromosome 12 between D12Mit37 - rs6225272 with a peak LOD score of 3.97 at D12Mit170. The C3H/HeJ allele is reported to be over-represented at the Vurm1 locus, suggesting that it confers increased susceptibility to VUR.
