Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsA loxP site was inserted into intron 1 and an FRT site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette and a second loxP site into intron 3. The neo cassette was removed through subsequent flp-mediated recombination and exons 2 and 3 were deleted through subsequent cre-mediated recombination. Exon 2 contains the ATG translation start site. Immunoblots of hippocampal crude synaptic membrane fractions confirmed the lack of protein expression from this allele. (J:255015)
