A neomycin resistance cassette flanked by two loxP sites was then inserted 5' to the second coding exon of Rere. A neomycin resistance cassette flanked by an frt site, and an frt and loxP site marked with a BglII restriction site was then inserted 3' to the second coding exon to generate the final targeting vector.
