N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
N
• mice appear to live a normal lifespan

behavior/neurological
• mice that are heterozygous for the translocation or have a karyotype of 41 chromosomes including Chr4, Chr17, and the small reciprocal translocation product 417 are affected
• disability is progressive
• mice are able to orient themselves in water, but exhibit rolling and poor limb coordination and must be rescued
• older mice appear better able to keep their heads above water
• becomes more pronounced as mice age

hearing/vestibular/ear
• some mice do not respond to clicking

reproductive system
• many males are sterile
• observed in both males and females
• heterozygote x wild-type matings produce small litters
• average litter size produced by a male heterozygote x wild-type mating is 1.8 pups
• average litter size produced by a female heterozygote x wild-type mating is 3-5 pups

vision/eye
• younger animals exhibit a slight bilateral clouding which progresses to a white/opaque cornea by several months of age
