hematopoietic system
• numbers of lymphoid cells in the spleen are greatly increased
• double positive to single positive transition inhibition is first noticeable in the first day after birth
• proportion of double negative cells considerably increased
• double positive cells express elevated amounts of CD4 and CD8
• 2 fold decrease in double positive T cells
• double negative to double positive transition inhibition is first noticeable at E18
• percentage of B cells in the spleen is normal
• absolute number of B cells in the spleen is 2X normal
• percentage of splenic B cells expressing high levels of IgM is increased although absolute numbers of low IgM cells is normal
• adult phenotype is established in the first week after birth
• 20% reduction in numbers of mature T cells in the spleen
• 50% reduction in total numbers of thymocytes
• CD4+ cells reduced to about 10% of normal
• cell numbers are greatly reduced
