Find Mice Using the International Mouse Strain Resource (IMSR)
Mouse lines carrying:
Casp3tm1Mak mutation (1 available); any Casp3 mutation (33 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• about 50% of homozygotes survive to adulthood

homeostasis/metabolism
• after injection with streptozocin for 5 consecutive days, blood glucose in homozygotes remains normoglycemic for the duration of the study and pancreas samples showed normal islets

immune system
• islets from homozygous mice show no infiltration at any time after streptozocin treatment compared to heterozygotes (J:97650)
• after treatment with TNF unlike in wild-type mice swollen villi, an increase in infiltrates, and high levels of apoptosis are almost absent (J:179279)
• however, cytokine concentrations, hypothermia, and mortality after TNF treatment are similar to wild-type controls (J:179279)

homeostasis/metabolism
• after injection with streptozocin for 5 consecutive days, blood glucose in caspase-3-homozygous transgenic mice remains normoglycemic for the duration of the study

cellular
• adoptive transfer of labeled Tg(TcrLCMV)327Sdz-transgene positive T cells, examination of pancreatic draining lymph nodes showed that only 45% of the transferred T cells had undergone proliferation compared to 62% in caspase-3-heterozygous transgenic recipients

immune system
• in CD8+ T cells isolated from pancreatic draining or non-draining lymph nodes of streptozocin-treated mice, 32% of the CD8+ cells are CD69hi positive and 9% respectively, compared to corresponding values of 3% and 5% respectively in caspase-3-heterozygous transgenic mice

hematopoietic system
• in CD8+ T cells isolated from pancreatic draining or non-draining lymph nodes of streptozocin-treated mice, 32% of the CD8+ cells are CD69hi positive and 9% respectively, compared to corresponding values of 3% and 5% respectively in caspase-3-heterozygous transgenic mice
