• B cells have significantly enhanced antibody response to the type II T cell-independent antigen TNP-Ficoll in both IgM and IgG3 isotypes
• surface expression of the B cell marker CD19 is reduced by about 50% compared to controls
• expression of other B cell markers is normal
• there is a 80% reduction of B-1 B cells in the peritoneal cavity
• the reduction in B-1 B cells is partially caused by a severe decrease in B-1a B cell numbers
