• homozygotes display no significant differences in jejunal contractile activity, as shown by normal migrating motor complex properties (MMCs) evoked by distension (intraluminal pressure 2.5-3.5 cmH2O) relative to wild-type mice
• notably, both agonist BIM-23027 and SRIF (somatotropin release-inhibitory factor) significantly increase the interval between MMCs in wild-type jejunum, but only SRIF is effective in mutant jejunum, indicating that an additional receptor subtype is involved in the regulation of intestinal peristalsis
