homeostasis/metabolism
N
• no effect on plasma insulin either fasting or when fed
• stimulation of mRNA for glucokinase by insulin treatment is delayed relative to control animals but reaches equivalent levels by 8 hrs as compared to 2 hours
• glucokinase levels stimulated by insulin treatment never reach control levels
• greater increase in blood glucose levels after IP injection of glucose
• no difference in plasma insulin when compared to controls
• liver glycogen levels are 33% lower than controls when on a normal diet
• decreased glucokinase activity in the liver (by 15% when fasting and by 48% when fed ad-lib)

liver/biliary system
• liver glycogen levels are 33% lower than controls when on a normal diet
