• following intraperitoneal injection of LPS and Gal-N, mice exhibit protection from liver damage along with improved histology, reduced serum alanine aminotransferase levels, reduced hepatocyte apoptosis, a 3.5-fold elevation in TNF-alpha serum levels 3 hours after injection, a 64% reduction in IFN-gamma serum levels, a 71% reduction in IL10 serum levels, and a 1 to 2 hour delay in progression to death compared to in similarly treated wild-type mice
