Presence of megakaryocytes in the spleen of 11 week old Sirpatm1Nog/Sirpatm1Nog mice

• mean body mass is reduced by about 10% compared to wild-type

• the circulating platelet count is reduced by about 25% compared to wild-type mice
• the life span of platelets is significantly decreased in mutants

• the phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages is significantly enhanced
