vision/eye
• at P4, mutant lenses display multiple clefts of various sizes in the embryonic nucleus, unlike wild-type lenses
• at P10, abnormal remnants of fiber cell nuclei persist in secondary fibers in the anterior lens region; in contrast, the cell nuclei of wild-type differentiating lens fibers are degraded normally
• by 7 weeks of age, the degenerated lens nucleus is separated from the cortical fibers indicating liquefaction of perinuclear lens fibers, unlike in wild-type lenses
|
• nuclear and posterior suture opacities are observed at eye opening (P12)
• opacities progress to cloudy nuclear and sharp zonular cataracts at 2 months of age
