Mouse lines carrying:
Nmf31 mutation (1 available); any Nmf31 mutation (1 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• homozygous mutants die within a few days of the onset of the overt phenotype

behavior/neurological
• at 3-6 days of age, homozygotes exhibit intermittent, intense limb spasms, lasting several seconds, in which front paws are drawn close to the chest and hind limbs are extended straight backwards

muscle
• at 3-6 days of age, homozygotes exhibit intermittent, intense limb spasms, lasting several seconds, in which front paws are drawn close to the chest and hind limbs are extended straight backwards

respiratory system
• homozygous mutants appear to have difficulty breathing

nervous system
• at 3-6 days of age, homozygotes exhibit intermittent, intense limb spasms, lasting several seconds, in which front paws are drawn close to the chest and hind limbs are extended straight backwards

N normal phenotype
behavior/neurological
• deviants have a high threshold to electroconvulsive minimal clonic seizures (show relative resistance compared with the parental strain)
• mutants do not appear to be resistant to pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced seizures
• using other seizure endpoints (clonus, tonic hind limb extension) similar results were observed compared to controls

nervous system
N
• standard pathological analysis revealed no apparent defects in the brain; in particular, the hippocampus appeared normal
