nervous system
• delayed Purkinje cell terminal differentiation, however, premature elevation of calbindin expression suggests that aspects of early differentiation may occur prematurely
• the EGL was most severely affected at postnatal day 3 but recovers to normal size by P11
• developmentally regulated changes in granule cell proliferation in the EGL, with a decrease in early development followed by a compensatory increase at the end of the first postnatal week
• developmentally regulated changes in granule cell proliferation, with a decrease in early development followed by a compensatory increase at the end of the first postnatal week
• at postnatal day 8, IGL was reduced by almost 50%, followed by recovery after postnatal day 16
• developmentally regulated changes in cell death in the inner granule layer, with an increase in early development (P3) followed by a decrease at the end of the first postnatal week
• at postnatal day 8, molecular layer was reduced by almost 50%, followed by recovery after postnatal day 16
• reduced cerebellum size between postnatal days 3 - 16, that is indistinguishable from wild-type at postnatal day 30
• cultures from cerebella exhibit shorter neurites that cover a lower surface area than controls and neurites display a tendency to fasciculate more than in controls
• reduced arborization of Purkinje cell dendrites at P3, with striking reductions at P8 and P11, but by P16, Purkinje cells essentially appear normal
