• altered inhibitory processing in the retina; rod bipolar cells of the retina respond to a GABA puff, but the duration of the GABA evoked current is shorter and their charge transfer and peak amplitudes are smaller
• at high flash intensities, mutants exhibit a faster time-to-peak of the b-wave, a significant increase in the number of oscillatory potential wavelets in dark-adapted electroretinographs (ERGs) and larger mean peak amplitudes of the remaining wavelets, except for the first wavelet, indicating an alteration of transmission of the visual signal from rod bipolar cells to third order neurons in the retina
• however, retinal morphology is normal
