• homozygous null mice displayed an altered response to the typical antipsychotic drug haloperidol: specifically, haloperidol induction of Fos was markedly attenuated in the dorsolateral and central caudate-putamen (but not the nucleus accumbens) of homozygous null mice
• compared with wild-type mice, homozygous null mice displayed no significant differences in either baseline catalepsy scores or in catalepsy measured 45 and 90 min after haloperidol challenge
• notably, homozygous null mice were indistinguishable from wild-type mice in appearance, body weight, gross anatomy, fertility, and behavior
