• there is a 70-fold reduction in the number of recirculating mature B cells found in the bone marrow
• the number of mature B cells found in the spleen is reduced by about 50-fold
• mice have a 25% decrease in IgM-B220+CD43-CD25+ pre-Bcells in the bone marrow
• production of antibodies to T cell dependent antigens is impaired
