• reduced 13% in males and 20% in females
• reduced by 50% in females only
• fat depot loss became very great with age in both sexes due to adipocyte cell loss

endocrine/exocrine glands
• decreased staining for beta cells by 7 weeks but the condition was no worse at 24 weeks
• islet number and size was normal however in hyperinsulinemic mice
• hypoinsulinemic mice had decreased numbers of islets and few beta cells

growth/size/body
• 8% smaller at birth an continuing throughout life
• relative brain and liver weights increased
