• homozygotes are viable, fertile, and behaviorally normal, with no apparent abnormalities in heart, skeletal and pancreas tissue morphology relative to wild-type littermates
• unlike Mapkapk2tm1Mgl mutant mice, homozygotes do not exhibit increased resistance to endotoxic shock or decreased LPS-induced biosynthesis of TNF, IL-6, or IFN-gamma in spleen cells but display the same susceptibility to LPS-mediated liver failure as wild-type mice
