• mutants exhibit abnormalities in the vascular coating of their coronary arteries and veins
• decrease in pericytes in the kidney
• decrease in incidence of pericytes in the spinal cord, heart and kidney, compared to wild-type

renal/urinary system
• decrease in pericytes in the kidney
• modest decrease in the number of nuclei in kidney glomeruli but no glomerulosclerosis is seen
