• vesicles fail to accumulate at inhibitory preterminals after repeated exposure to a hypertonic solution
• vesicle replenishing at inhibitory synapses is accelerated compared to in wild-type mice
• after a 5 minute interval and a second application of hypertonic solution caused, a smaller increase in miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents (IPSCs) is observed and fewer quanta are released than in wild-type mice in inhibitory synapses
• IPSCs in CA3 pyramidal cells have wider scatter than in wild-type mice
