adipose tissue
• iBAT weights are about 30% lower than in controls after tamoxifen administration to induce Cre expression
• presence of numerous necrotic brown adipocytes with swollen and hypertrophic mitochondria and fibroblasts and collagen fibers at 14 days post tamoxifen administration
• at 4 days after tamoxifen administration, about 30% of brown adipocytes contain larger lipid droplets than in controls
• presence of numerous necrotic white adipocytes after tamoxifen administration, with some containing supernumerary small lipid droplets, infiltration by lymphocytes and macrophages, and disrupted cell membranes
• epididymal fat pad weights are about 30% lower than in controls after tamoxifen administration to induce Cre expression
• 17-25% reduction in the relative body fat content for 7 to 21 days after tamoxifen administration, however by 42 and 49 days after tamoxifen administration, body fat content is normal
• mature brown and white adipocytes die within a few days after tamoxifen administration and are replaced with Pparg-positive adipocytes putatively derived from fibroblast-like preadipocyte cells

integument
• phenotype of adult mutant epidermis is similar to that observed in Rxr- and Rar-conditional knockouts
• granular keratinocytes in mutants contain vesicles devoid of lamellae or with disorganized lamellae
• disorganized lamellae form aggregates at the apical pole of granular keratinocytes
