• while the formation of compact myelin was normal, the radial component was abnormally straight (instead of zig-zag as in wild-type)
• in response to a dysmyelinating agent, hexachlorophene (HCP), there was an increased frequency of vacuolation relative to wild-type controls and a widening of the major dense lines which was not observed in wild-type controls
