mortality/aging
• in a cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) model of acute septic peritonitis, homozygotes exhibit enhanced survival relative to wild-type controls at 36 hrs (85% vs 65%), 48 hrs (75% vs 52%) and 10 days (58% vs 12%) post-CLP
• at 48 hrs post-CLP, 14 of 18 homozygotes vs only 3 of 13 wild-type mice are scored as being "well" based on established criteria
• reconstitution of homozygotes with human MBL results in partial reversion of the enhanced survival phenotype
|
immune system
• at 48 hrs (but not at 3 hrs) post-CLP, homozygotes scored as "well" display significantly lower TNF levels in the blood and peritoneal cavity than "ill" wild-type controls

homeostasis/metabolism
• at 48 hrs (but not at 3 hrs) post-CLP, homozygotes scored as "well" display significantly lower TNF levels in the blood and peritoneal cavity than "ill" wild-type controls
