• in 12 month old males seminiferous tubules are small and severely damaged with a disorganized appearance
• round vacuoles and necrotic cells are seen in the seminiferous tubules
• thickening of the tubular membrane is seen at 18 months of age
• the number of Leydig cells appears to be increased in some seminiferous tubules
