• about 50% of homozygotes die in the first 24 hours after birth on a C57BL/6 background but not on a mixed C57BL/6 and MF1 background

• the caudal origin of the pulmonary trunk is rotated about 90o relative to the root of the aorta as a result of overgrowth of the conus arteriosus
• 14% reduction in the volume of left ventricular myocardium
• hypoplasia of the right ventricular papillary muscle
• hypoplasia of the right ventricular papillary muscle results in thinning of the left ventricular myocardium
• the number and size of the right ventricular trabeculae carnae are reduced
• overgrowth of the conus arteriosus
