• mice infected with influenza strain H10-HA did not lose body weight and no viral replication was observed in contrast to control mice
• mice infected with influenza strain H10-HA exhibited reduced inflammatory lesions with only mild or no damage of bronchial epithelium compared to controls
• mice infected with influenza strain H10-HA did not exhibit lethality compared to 7 dpi mortality in control mice

normal phenotype
• homozygotes develop normally, are viable and fertile, and do not exhibit any abnormalities in the prostate, kidneys, stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, testes, lungs, liver, ovaries, and uterus, or in prostatic and seminal vesicle protein secretions or in the regeneration of prostate epithelium following castration and testosterone replacement

immune system
• mice show decreased susceptibility to intranasal infection with H1N1 influenza viruses, including the mouse adapted PR8M (A/PuertoRico/8/34 H1N1 Munster variant), a human isolate of the pandemic HA4 (A/Hamburg/4/2009 H1N1) virus, or the more virulent PR8F virus isolate (A/PuertoRico/8/34 H1N1 Freiburg variant), showing no weight loss or signs of disease
• H1N1 influenza-infected mice show a much lower number of infiltrating cells into the lungs and reduced virus spread, and readily detectable influenza-specific antibodies
• mice show protection from intranasal infection with the mouse-adapted H3N2 influenza virus (A/HK/01/68) but to a lesser extent than what is seen with the H1N1 influenza virus, showing less severe body weight loss and increased survival
• however, mice show a similar susceptibility to infection with SC35M, a mouse-adapted A/Seal/Massachusetts/1/80, H7N7, influenza virus as wild-type mice

neoplasm
• the incidence of metastasis to distant solid organs is lower, with only 7% of mice having gross metastasis to solid organs compared to 61% of controls
• primary tumors derived from mutant mice fail to generate metastasis in wild-type recipient mice
• primary tumor cells from mutant donor mice injected into the tibia of recipient hosts results in no tumor development unlike controls that show tumors in the bone
• mice develop prostate tumors that are more than twice as large as in controls
