vision/eye
• the radii of curvature of the refractive surface is smaller
• lenses complete disintegrate when bisected suggesting a lack of tissue cohesion
• when a grid is observed through the lens it is distorted compared to when a wild-type lens is used and dark annulus are observed
• mice possess two refractive compartments compared to one in wild-type resulting in altered refractive properties
• at 3 weeks, mice develop faint, hazy opacities centered in the fetal nuclear region and by 12 weeks, discrete nuclear crumbling opacities are observed
• back vertex distance (BVD) is shorter in the cortex of the lens and slightly greater in the perinuclear region indicating that the refractive power for the cortex is greater and that of the perinuclear region is less
