Hmgb1tm1Meb mutation (0 available); any Hmgb1 mutation (17 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
cellular
• cultured embryonic fibroblast cells from homozygous mice grow normally, however they show high levels of aneuploidy and spontaneous chromosome aberrations, and display higher rates of damage after UV irradiation

N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• homozygous mice die within 24 hours after birth
• homozygous mice can survive additional 5-25 days if given glucose intraperitoneally

behavior/neurological
• homozygotes become lethargic after birth

homeostasis/metabolism
• blood glucose levels are normal at birth; however, hypoglycemia develops shortly after birth
• homozygous mice do not mobilize glycogen stored in liver and develop neonatal hypoglycemia (expression of key enzymes involved in glucose metabolism was not abolished)

respiratory system
• seen at birth in 8 out 10

vision/eye
• seen in 6 out 10

phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• 5 out of 29 homozygotes survived more than 24 hours after birth without glucose treatment; however all were dead by 4 weeks of age
• most homozygous mice die within 24 hours after birth

growth/size/body
• surviving homozygotes begin to waste away after 2 weeks of age
• surviving homozygotes stop growing around 2 weeks of age
