endocrine/exocrine glands
• Background Sensitivity: all heterozygous females resulting from backcrosses to 129T2/SvEms failed to lactate even after multiple pregnancies

endocrine/exocrine glands
• initial development of the mammary gland is normal however development stalls during the proliferation phase resulting in retarded alveolar genesis
• most females are unable to lactate or have impaired lactation
• about 84% of heterozygous females fail to support any pups and about 6% were able to support a reduced number of pups
• Background Sensitivity: this phenotype becomes fully penetrant when backcrossed onto 129T2/SvEms
