• the ability to adapt to a forward shift in the light dark cycle is impaired and anticipatory locomotor activity in a LD restricted feeding paradigm is significantly reduced
• anticipatory locomotor activity in a LD restricted feeding paradigm is significantly reduced
• for any given light intensity under constant light conditions the period in mutants was shorter than that in wild-type mice and mutants became arrythmic at lower light intensities
• under constant darkness the endogenous period lengths are not significantly different; however the variability in time of activity onset was greater in mutants
• with artificial inflammation latency to withdrawal was furthered decreased by a factor of 2 when mutants were placed on a hot plate at 44 degrees C (secondary nociception)
• primary nociception is increased in mutants at all temperatures examined and secondary nociception is increased 3-fold

nervous system
• a 3- to 4-fold decrease in norepinephrine levels is seen in frontal cortical slices
• norepinephrine levels are reduced by 40% in the spinal cord
