• diphtheria toxin-treated mice exhibit ablation of CD11b+ F4/F80+ macrophages from the spleen and lymph nodes unlike similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, CD11b+CD11c+ dendritic cells in all lymphoid organs and the pancreas of diphtheria-treated mice are spared
