neoplasm
• a delay of four weeks in the onset of papillomas compared to controls when tumors are initiated in epidermal keratinocytes by topical application of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)
• number of DMBA induced papillomas per animal was reduced by 4-fold compared to controls
• significant reduction in the size of DMBA induced papillomas that developed compared to controls
• 4-fold increase in the number of apoptotic cells in DMBA induced papillomas compared to tumors from controls
• progression from papillomas to malignant carcinomas occurred more than 28 weeks after DMBA initiation, compared to 16 weeks in controls, with only 9% of tumors progressing to malignancy compared to 36% in controls
