• strong and selective impairment in ability to taste cycloheximide (a bitter tastant), however responses to sweet, umami, sour and salty tastants were similar to wildtype
• animals are not behaviorally averse to cycloheximide, even at concentrations 100-fold higher than those required to trigger a strong repulsion in wildtype
