mortality/aging
• about 2/3 of homozygous embryos are resorbed by E9.5 - E10.5 with no homozygotes found after E11.5
embryo
• at E7.5 the embryonic ectoderm is small and underdeveloped
• at E7.5 homozygotes have not yet undergone gastrulation and lack a neural groove appearing similar to E6.5 embryos
• at E9.5 homozygous embryos resemble E8.5 embryos
• at E7.5 extraembryonic tissues are not as severey effected as embryonic tissues but appear smaller and are disorganized without any identifiable cavities or membranes
• at E8.5 some disorganized extraembryonic cavities and membranes are seen
• the allantois and chorion do not fuse; however the allantois continues to grow resulting in a large spherical morphology
