embryo
• embryos are unturned at E9.5
• at E9.5 structures and organs appear reduced in number or smaller and developmentally retarded
• at E9.5 embryos are about 10- 20-fold smaller than wild-type littermates; however all 3 germ layers are present
• at E9.5 the neural tube is small and appears developmentally retarded
• at E9.5 fewer somites are present, similar in number to wild-type somites at E7.5

nervous system
• at E9.5, 25% of the cells in the neural tube are apoptotic and overall apoptosis is strongly enhanced; however cell size is normal
• at E9.5 the neural tube is small and appears developmentally retarded

growth/size/body
• at E9.5 structures and organs appear reduced in number or smaller and developmentally retarded
• at E9.5 embryos are about 10- 20-fold smaller than wild-type littermates; however all 3 germ layers are present
