• 50% enhancement in proliferation of T cells upon CD3 stimulation
• moderate increase in thymus cellularity
• altered T cell development, however B cell development is normal
• decrease of thymocytes that express high levels of TCR
• the peripheral T-cell repertoire is skewed towards the T-helper 1 lineage
• 40% increase in the number of double-positive (DP) immature thymocytes
• DP thymocytes express higher levels of CD5 and CD69
• reduction in the number of alpha betaTCR+ lymphocytes in both the CD4 and CD8 subpopulations
• reduction in CD4+ mature single-positive thymocytes
• reduction in CD8+ mature single positive thymocytes
• increase in both the distribution and absolute numbers of gamma deltaTCR+ lymphocytes in lymph nodes, spleen, Peyer's patches, blood and bone marrow
• 50% decrease in total cellularity of the superficial lymph node
