renal/urinary system
• in vivo and renal slice excretion of para-aminohippurate (PAH) is significantly reduced; however, excretion of estrone sulfate, inulin clearance, blood pressure, heart rate and kidney morphology are all normal
• also, no differences are seen in body weight or in plasma or urinary electrolyte, creatinine, or glucose levels and histology of the kidneys, heart, liver, spleen, muscle, and brain appears normal
• higher concentrations of furosemide are required to induce similar levels natriuresis compared to wild-type mice
